Definition: Hindbrain nucleus which consists of cell bodies whose axons exit the hindbrain via cranial nerve VIII and innervate hair cells of the lateral line and inner ear. The neurons of these nuclei are unusual in that they extend both contra- and ipsilateral dendrites.
